A year ago I lost 2 L-174 female plecos. They may have been old as they were wild caught and there was no signs of disease in the tank. I knew I had 3 males but have not seen any other fish in the past year. The tanks care has been at a minimum. This morning was a good rainy morning for water changes. I stuck my hand in the tank and lifted a piece of slate and to my surprise there sat a fat female. As I refilled the tank with the hose she came out to a males cave and showed off. I have to work with them now as they are a hard fish to locate. This really made my day. I did have a good spawn of 20 or more some years ago and the odd fry since. I should have kept some back.

I saw Spencer has a group of 10 (1.5") juvies listed. They are not easily spawn.

Good luck.

If you are looking to add to your group, Jeff Rapps in the US has WC young adult L174s for $175.

Charlie: What was the steps you did to spawn them then raised them. I have mine with the Zebras and L397s. I have juvies from both but none I can see from L174s.

Charlie - Some say that L174 fry are harder to grow out than L46 fry.  Is this your observation too or the degree of difficulty the same?

Thanks

The fry can be touchy at first and the eggs don't always hatch well. The hatching fry can have a bacterial bloat.

Thanks Charlie. Easy to grow them out when they are beyond 1 inch?
