The May June 2018 Amazonas issue reported on breeding of LDA 105. The breeder has 40 specimen and only 4 are positively identified as female.

I haven't seen anyone with adults of these. Only the sellers selling smaller ones.

Maybe people just aren't posting the pictures much.

Curtis had some for sale a while ago, 2016 or 2017, small and adult also.

I have also seen some pictures of an owner on this forum.

They are very nice, but also expensive...

I had 5- 12-13” males and females in 2016 along with 15-18 smaller 4-7” sizes and 5 buyers from Vancouver, Lethbridge and Toronto bought them all. Look at Rich’s logo- always a favourite of mine but in order to get them I had to buy over a 100K of fish from the exporter to get ahead of the Asian buyers on the lists! Welcome to importing I was told! Buying fish the value of trucks and shipping them in boxes with Airlines is another form of gambling! Stressful and I won’t do it again - at least for sometime! (Rich would have a comment here!)

Sounds like even you get half the value of per fish still not worth it the stress that you get .

Saw them, they were KILLER looking!   I also had some that were 8" plus.   a male and a female, then mysteriously they just died, one then another 4 -5 months later.  Was a real kick in the ass.

All of these fish go to Asia, its damn near impossible to get anything rare here.  Money talks, simple as that.  Theres only a handful of buyers in Canada that spend on plecos, vs thousands over there.

Not to mention getting the rare stuff you have to order boxes and boxes and boxes of "crap" which is hard to move here as well.  Its one hell of an effort to bring them in.  I don't except we'll ever see many come this way again anytime soon.   Hope they can raise lots in tanks like they are doing with zebras now.  Except they grow even slower!

I got my LDA 105 from Rich around 2010.  Yes, they grow very slowly. Yes some will mysteriously lose weight but still eating. Kam has recently introduced me to Paraguard. After a few treatments it starts to bulk up again :). Kam told me he uses Paraguard with each water change as a preventative treatments. A practice I will now adopt.
