Ya I use it and alot of people swear by it. I use hmf filter on my 75 and 125. On my 220 I have several different layers in my sump. Works really well.

First time I order through angelfins.ca, and more recently through swisstropic als themselves. Larger selection and flat rate of $39. Expensive but they had what I wanted

I have used both companies. Swisstropicals is the North American distributor of the Poret which is made in Germany. The only thing is i was in luck when i ordered from Swisstropical and got taxed by our government when it was shipped. Ordering from Angelfins you know right away how much you will be paying including the taxes. Also, someone already mentioned that you have more choices from Swisstropicals.

I am a big fan of Poret filters............

ITs the best...    It is the only filter material (other then some filter socks) in my 300g (75g sump).   Bio filtration is unbelievable in it.

Also used it as a HMF setup in a 75g tank with 50 odd zebras with great success.

I buy direct from swiss tropicals when I need it as well, you have a fairly good chance of not getting dinged by canada post, but the chance is always there.

Cool. So no canister for a 300G? Ok so what ratio of water volume to filter surface area do you go with. Obviously bio load comes into play but is there a good rule of thumb? And no chemical filtration? Ie. carbon, etc

Only use carbon to remove meds. Otherwise you don't need it. For sump you want different pores per inch to trap all the debris. For a single hmf I used 20 ppi

No, no canister on my 300g.  I have a 75g sump.   Its got a bunch of different sizes of poret foam, and a lot of it.  No fancy calculations or anything, just throw in what you can fit.

Ive not put carbon in my filters in prob a decade.   I have a UV I turn on from time to time and thats it.

I've used both poret 20/30ppi as well as the Japanese matting in my sump. I ended up buying a roll from Swiss Tropical and brought the 20ppi and 30ppi - 2" foam in. I use the poret on my uplift systems in my cory tanks with great results as it does not collapse. I've also used it as replacement foam in my FX5/6's with great results.
Still have 2-3 sheets at 39" x 39" left

Yes - I can send the sheets folded in a box via FedEx for 24.00. I sent the message before I realized it was not Matt!
Post pics of the royal discus please! Those blue royals were a special order and I am glad you got them as they are not common.
