After years of waiting, I can finally say that they are happy. Here is my previous post in regards to my breeding group:

http://canadapleco.c...?hl= black#036;  white

Updated and added new pictures on June 2016. See on page 4 post 69

I have added pictures of the parents on Jan 2016. See on page 2 post 31

Added Updated pics of new batch and should be ready to go next month..January 16, 2015. See on page 2 post 36

For people that want to learn more about Black and White hypancistrus, here is a detailed article written by Haakon H.

http://canadapleco.c...?hl= black#036;  white

Haakon has made a point that within each clutch of fry you have so much variant. See the pictures below and you can see for yourself.

Each of my breeding fish has its lineage confirmed and traced back to its german origin. I have been fortunate enough to acquire my breeders from multiple sources as 1 inch fry going years back.

The lineage of my fish could be traced from Eric Bodrock and all the way back to Robert Budrovcan.

With Eric's permission, i linked the article that he has written:

http://www.alloddbal...m/articles.html

Here is the link to Planetcatfish with Robert Bodrovacan's project going way back to 2002.

I will keep updating the post as i add new pictures as well as updated pictures of the individual fish as they grow:

Thanks man,,,,not very rare to me anymore...lol

Just got lucky....

You of all people know all the troubles and heartbreak that i went through and finally succeed in acquiring, keeping and eventually breeding them. Everything comes in full circle i guess.

Beautiful pleco. I hope you raise lots of them. Eric Bodrock in Pittsburgh is also spawning them. Here you can access his article.  http://www.alloddbal...m/articles.html

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the compliment and also for the encouragement. Eric is the man, not only with cory and plecos but with other odd ball fish. You guys have crossed paths a few times during conventions. Eric speaks very highly of you.

It was Eric's article that really gave me that drive and boost to really do my best in breeding.

Thanks Hong! I guess i'm just crazy enough to take chances and bite the bullet. It worked out in the end. Everyone should be taking the same approach. Acquire as much as you can of the regular color/pattern and breed them. You might get lucky and end up as much of the white variety as i did.

The cure is your hydro bill if you are luck enough to live in ontario :/

Or other hobbies.  Im down to 2 tanks, and enjoying it very much, way less work, just keep the fish I really want.  However every now and then I do for sure want to start up some more tanks, but space and that damned hydro bill say no.

Agrees with Rich. But at least we are not keeping wild discus :). They need pristine water than our little plecos....
