You have literally tens of options now with LED. Ecoxotic, Kessil, Vertex and a whole bunch of them made in China which I haven't tried. On plantedtank.net you'll see a whole slough of people buying or doing their own LED builds. So yes they can grow plants.

Here's how much PAR they put out (some of them are WAY overkill without CO2): http://www.plantedta...ad.php?t=160396

I have 3 of my 5 planted tanks on LED's now. Here's my 125 with CO2 injection and low to med LED lighting using Ecoxotic Panorama Freshwater modules and a double AquaRay Growbeam 500:

And here's my ADA cube garden with CO2 and extremely high light from an AquaRay mini tile. All the bubbles are from the plants "pearling" under the intense light and CO2:

Started fixing up the room that the tank is in. I had a friend do the drywalling years ago and they did a REALLY bad job, so I am fixing it all and then beginning to finish the stand and make a nice cover for it, make it somewhat built in.

photo 1.jpg

I've finally painted the inside of the stand as well... bright shiny white. Will be a couple of months I figure until the stand is done.

Ordered some poret foam for the new sump and overflow which should be here soon.

Thinking about getting just some regular lights for now and not going crazy planted, just too much $$$ upfront and this re-do is costing enough already. Been looking at the new Finnex MonsterRay LED's. http://www.aquavibra...terray-479.html

Oh i more then hate it..... I can only stand to do it for 30min or so at a time. Hanging the board no problem, its the damn muding and sanding.

Ah well, it'll look much better in the end.

So I have made it a little further, drywall done, room painted...
Added some plugs above the tank for lighting which is on a timer. You can see them on the left side.
Stand is next.

Love 10mm lens, only way I can get the whole tank in the picture.

30 mins here and there is about all the attention its getting. I got tired of tripping over and ripping off the skin on my toes from the background so it was nice out yesterday so out came the saw (that was a treat trying to cut this thing).

My Poret Foam arrived a week or so ago as well. I got nearly all densities to put in the sump, and some of the black 10PPI for the overflow to prevent small fish from landing in the sump and meeting their death. I'm thinking it will also keep the sound of the overflow down as well as act as a pre-filter. I need to order a few bulk heads and some plumbing parts and the sump should be ready.

My friend who is going to help with the finishing of the stand is coming over this afternoon so should be able to at least get together a materials list for this thing.

Some actually really nice looking fake plants. Need a whole lot more though :(

They look a lot more real when they are in water.

Where did you get the background from? Is it all one piece or two?

1 long piece. I got it from a member on another forum a few hours away from me. I am not sure where he got it from though.
