So I am slowly in the process of shutting down my 10' tank and converting to a high tech CO2 heavy planted setup.

Tank is getting a new sump, its larger, easier to clean and just better configured.

Getting 8 bags of ADA Amazonia Soil

2 x ATI Dimmable 48" x 6 bulb T5HO

Green Leaf Ultimate Regulator

DIY 20" CO2 Reactor

and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I dont expect the tank to be setup and running for prob another 3-5 months. Taking time, doing everything right, getting the best equipment and will hopefully have one killer setup when its all done and ready.

Stocking ideas are going to likley be something like 300-500 cardinals, 25+ marbled hatchet fish, and a few other things. 1,000+ Fire Red Shrimp. Unsure of plecos for the tank yet, but there will be some. Also a large school of some sort of cory.

It's gonna be sweet from the sounds of it.

Where are you buying the lights from? I looked into those they're pricey.

I would suggest a dual stage regulator from here
http://gtaaquaria.co...ead.php?t=39347
He doesn't have any listed but you can contact him to build you one. He's building one for me now.
Sounds like it will be awesome.

I have a wholesale account with the master distributer in the US, still damn expensive and I have to have them shipped to the US and drive across to make it worth while.

Green Leaf Ultimate regulator has already been ordered.

Anyone used one of the DIY Cerges reactor's? Looking at making one of them with a 20" x 2.5" water filter. All I've read about them is good and more good.

Wow - please post a pic once you are done; I'm sure it'll look amazing. I love planted tanks. I have a small school of rummy nose and they are really entertaining to watch PLUS they bring color to the tank just like cardinals. I hope the transition of your tank goes smoothly and can't wait to see pics!

Picked up a 3d background today and moved out some more of the stock. Few more big plecos to move out then I can drain, clean and start at least re-doing to plumbing and filtration system.
Figuring will be ready by June if I'm lucky. So much to buy and all so much money.

One thing to consider while running a sump is off gassing of your CO2.

Tom Barr does it. You'll have to keep the thing sealed with a lid and duct tape. And minimize any splashing. I'm not sure 8 bags of Aquasoil will be enough as I used one bag in my ADA cube (30cm). :D

Man, all I can think of is that it'll be a lot of pruning...

Thanks for the advice :) I do have a decent lid for the new sump, but will have to seal it a little better for sure.

Are you referring to the 9L bags of ADA for your 30cm cube? thats only 1 sq foot. I have 20 sqft :)

Yeah, the 9L bags. But I wanted to build up a big slope to get a hill effect. 6 inches deep at the back and 3 in front. :D

I was told to get a 3" depth in my 240 gallon 8'x2'x2' I will need at least 12 bags of ADA Amazona, and that's going on advice of James Finnly over at thegreenmachine.com.

Thinking the tank is going to be put on hold for a while... like 3k for the lights I want alone :( Will be doing a lot of changes to it now however so I can be ready for when planted does happen.

ATI dimmable. They just released ones with LEDs in it as well. HUGE $ tho.

For that kind of money nowadays I would not go T5HO. For 3k, you can go as fancy as you want in controllable LED's that simulate storms and sunrise/sunset.

Speaking of LED lights, anyone have a good suggestion for a planted tank. Not talking high light, but medium or so. Do the LEDs let the plants grow? I have a lot of tanks, and if I can save $ on hydro, I would like to.
