This morning I found a little Newt in my basement, it looks like a firebelly & the poor guy was almost frozen & is skin & bones. What do I feed the little guy to get some strength back into him, I have no idea what they eat. I tried some frozen bloodworms but wouldn't eat them, so I'm not sure what to do.

Looks skinny... Keep it wet and try not to touch it too much. I think you should try small crickets. You're in Victoria as in Victoria BC? Are you sure it's a newt and not a salamander?

Flies, crickets, small water bugs. I had a couple of those once, they got out of their cage and got away. Salamander. Good luck.

I use a 10-gallon for the crickets. Once in a while I get escapees but those are after I accidentally drop them and they get under heavy things. Pinhead crickets can climb the glass so you use duct tape ( I think).
